Due to changes being made by the Blue Lagoon with regards to tourcompanies bringing clients to their location the Blue Lagoon combo tour sales will be suspended for the time being. This is due to uncertanty as to how we proceed in the aftermath of the changes.
At the moment we are not sure if the combo will return but it will operate on presold reservations until May 1st. Reservations after that are being collected and we´ll contact all customers with more info as soon as we have it.
In the summer season between April 1st and September 30th we offer the Snorkel Silfra & Horseback Riding Combo Tour. This is a great tour for the whole family as no experience is needed to snorkel or ride horses.
On this tour you will first visit the most popular snorkeling dive site in Iceland: the magical fissure Silfra, located in Þingvellir National Park. During your snorkel you will explore the four main parts of Silfra. You will float through Big Crack, Silfra’s narrowest section and where the continental plates are so close you can almost touch them. The fissure then widens into Silfra Hall. Here the full spectrum of Silfra’s colours and clarity become all the more apparent. At this point if you look at just the right angle you can see all the way to Thingvallavatn, over 150m away. Near to the opening to Thingvallavatn we will enter the Silfra Cathedral; as the depth reaches 23m you feel like you are flying over the boulders and glacial silt. Your snorkel is finished in the endless visibility of Silfra Lagoon.
After the snorkeling you’ll head back to Reykjavik where you´ll have time for lunch before getting pickup for our afternoon Laxnes special. If you prefer though, you can request a dropoff directly at Laxnes farm where lunch is available and you can mingle with the horses, enjoy a drink or surf the net on our free wifi. Please note though that the gap between tours is roughly 2 hours.
After the ride you´ll then be dropped off in Reykjavik.
NOTE ABOUT PICK UP: Pick up in Reykjavík begins 1,5 hours earlier than the tour times show below.
Arctic Adventures handle the initial pickup and the bus will be clearly marked with their logo. Their pickup starts at 8:30 and lasts about 30 minutes. Make sure you’re at the pickup location at the right time as you might be the first pickup of the day.
Make sure you list your email and/or phone number so they can contact you if they have trouble finding you.
Please Note: This combo uses Arctic Adventures´ pickup list on the drop down menu which is not the same as ours
Our online booking system, Bokun, is a very reliable system which automatically reserves your seats from a pool of availability for each tour. Once you’ve completed your reservation you should receive an email from the system with a ticket showing your tour date and information on pickup location and time, or if you choose to travel to the farm yourself, in which case the ticket shows what time to arrive. If you do not receive an email very soon, check your junk mail folder or contact us in case the email address was input incorrectly.
When booking a combo tour, the system automatically books the tour with each operator respectively. Our partners have been operating these tours with us for years, some decades, resulting in smooth transitions between companies.
On August 19th the entire city center will be closed to traffic all day due to the culture night event and our pickup route will be affected by these closures and probably delayed. We kindly ask our passengers for patience and understanding on this festive day and will be contacting all travellers directly to point them to their nearest available pickup location.
If you´re planning on riding on August 19th but haven´t made reservations yet please view the map, choose TBD as pickup and enter your nearest location marked with a bus outside the red zone. If you have any questions regarding pickup on August 19th don´t hesitate to contact us at info@laxnes.is.
PLEASE NOTE! On August 22nd Reykjavik hosts it´s annual Culture Night or Menningarnótt. On that day our pickup service will be severely limited due to traffic restrictions in the city centre. After making an online reservation please e-mail info@laxnes.is for information on available pickup locations.
Due to everyone at Laxnes farm attending a refresher course in First Aid our afternoon tour on may 19th will not depart. We apologise for any inconveinience.
This winter has been hard. Not only has the farm seen such a growth in winter riding tours but the weather has not been all that great… terrible in fact.
But there´s an upside 🙂 Spring is almost here and we´re looking forward to it. We have a lot of work in the coming months. Half of our herd has been on their winter break. A seven month vacation of just eating, realxing and being horses. Soon we´ll round them up to the farm and get them ready to take over from the ones that have been stabled this winter to give those horses a break.
When this is done it´s time to fix things winter broke, a neverending circle 🙂 Roofs were damaged in the big march storm and the barn will undergo a major fixing up this summer. Fences will need mending and riding trails will need some love as well. Vehicles need tending and then the stables will see some changes late summer.
The fun never stops at Laxnes farm and we´re determined, as always, to make this year even better than the one that came before 🙂
