Horseback riding in Iceland

Friday, November 15, 2013

Winter season is here yet again so just a quick reminder to bring warm shoes and socks and a pair of good, warm, waterresistant gloves for your riding tour on the Icelandic horse.  Toes and fingers freeze first 🙂

Riding Icelandic horses in winter

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Winter is almost here and we´re working hard to get everything ready.  Our horses in Viðey island are being transported back to “the mainland” and will head directly to their winter grazing area.  Next we´ll sort our herd into two groups like always where half will get winter shoes and the others will join our Viðey herd on a nice winter long vactation.

With the weather getting colder it´s important to dress properly for our tours.  Riding the Icelandic horse in wintertime is a lot of fun, particularly in fresh snow but it can get cold so dress well!  While we have winter overalls it´s very important to have good socks on and a pair of warm gloves… toes and fingers freeze first after all 🙂

Horseback riding in Iceland in the winter season is like nothing you´ve ever done and we´ll make sure you´re warm while you´re out.

The comment system

Friday, March 22, 2013

Ever since we put up the new laxnes.is site, which includes this blog the comment system has been bombarded by spammers.  The idea was that our visitors could leave comments which we could approve and post on the site.  We wanted everyone to have the chance to talk about the Icelandic horse, our riding tours, the farm… even our loveable dog.

The reality however is that spammers hit the comment system with over 100 comments a day and the work of actually finding a relevant comment takes way too much time.  The site will be getting some updates soon and with that the comment system will probably be shut down.  We will however try and make our facebook page more obvious to visit directly where visitors are encouraged to write comments or ask questions.

Rain, rain, rain

Friday, March 1, 2013

It´s raining non stop in Iceland and it´s been doing so for the past two weeks.  Luckily it´s warm and the Icelandic horse is used to go out riding in any kind of weather 🙂  In the next few days it might start freezing again though and who knows… we might get some winter.
